my own world

Lately, I've been thinking about my question, so I started observing my dog while I run with her, but I decided to slow down to try to see where she takes me. So this is how the routine goes, “as soon as I take a step out the door Pink rushes and sits so I can put her collar on, I just find it funny. She already knows.” Field notes 10/11.  I remember I put her collar on and I get her in the house so we can go out the front door. She pulls on me, “she might be impatient or even a little excited, I’m the only one who takes her out.” Field notes 10/11.  I’m trying to pull her back, but her pulling my hand starts hurting and gets all red. It’s really painful, but in the end it’s worth out. These past few days all she wants to do is stop and sniff around as all the stories come to her. I wonder if they all come out her at once or if they are sorted in a way.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZlJ8XfwiNg
I came up with a truth I am crazy. I am also not as frustrated on the walks, I've just let my dog do her own thing. smelling all sorts of things, hard soft cement, green long grass, short grass, dead grass, all sorts of grass.

On, "The Ability of Dogs to Recognize and Cross-match Human Odours," explains how dogs are used to identify criminals from scented items left at the crime scene.  Dogs not only can do that but also identify body parts due to their collective scents. Dogs are able to match hand scents, it all takes training, just like everything else.

I find it crazy, but amazingly wonderful. Then again not so great we never know, people could be loosing their jobs because of this. Are dogs even meant for it, to fight crime. I know dogs are mans best friend and I find it true. How do dogs have his collective sense of smell and how does it work, how long do they remember for?

  1. My dogs know we're going for a run when I open my sock drawer.

  2. It's so adorable how your dog already knows when you're going for a walk and waits for you to put on the collar! Do you think he recognizes when you're going to do something else besides taking him for a walk?

  3. Watching the excitement on your dogs face when you're getting ready to take them for a walk/run is adorable.

  4. Aww, I like how your dog is anxious to go out as soon as you get home. I like the picture of cat and dog people, it makes sense to me. (:

  5. My dogs know we're taking them out when we grab their leashes and they start to wiggle in excitement. I understand the pulling part, one of my dogs is a greyhound/collie mix and is very strong, he nearly drags me to the floor when he wants to go somewhere really badly. I like your descriptions and information on what dogs can do, it is rather entertaining to think about whether they are suited to the jobs we gave them or not.
